CS 141 Homework Assignment #14

Most students finished this exercise in class #10 on 11/01/07.

Each student was given a Knoppix CD to keep.

1. Shutdown windows and reboot.
stop in the bios and check the boot order.
Make sure that CD ROM boots before hard disk.

2. After Knoppix is up and running,
show me a calendar on ctrl-alt-f1
and one on the gui

3. add the printer in our classroom to your knoppix system
fat penguin in lower left
configure
configure printers.
wait for bouncing icon to stop bouncing.
in bottom right, print system currently used s/b CUPS
  (common unix print system)

4. launch open office (seagulls)
will start in a document
insert your 3 char login
set font
set size > 50
print the page and give to instructor

5. still in open office
new
spreadsheet
insert 3 numbers in col a
and 3 numbers in col b
select those 6 numbers
 insert
  chart
insert your 3 char login
in font > 50
print this
and show the instructor.

save your spreadsheet (just as an exercise)
save as
microsoft excell 97/2000/xp .xls
file name: /tmp/mysheet  (or any name)
This will disappear when you shutdown linux

6. ctrl-alt-f1
ctrl-alt-del to shutdown the knoppix
It will eject the CD for you.
